Back at Buck!

The Buck Hill series kicked off today and I was pumped to get things rolling out there again. 130 people showed up on a bluster cool day for some fun and racing. This was the debut for the 9.9 on the dirt, and it performed admirably. I definitely think that a hardtail is the right bike for that course.
I don’t know how big the field was for the advanced mens category (results were lost but will be posted tomorrow on PennCycle.com), but it was fairly large anyway. At the starting line, I was surrounded by at least 10 Penn Cycle jerseys…it was good to see a lot of familiar faces again. A little about the race…the race was three laps, which was a good choice, as my finishing time was over an hour.
From the start, Chris Fisher went off like a crazy man…big ring, out of the saddle, etc. After less than 10 minutes of racing we had a sizeable gap. He started to slow a little, and I yelled at him, “Keep it rollin’ “ and he did! Clearly, all his hard work in the winter and early season is starting to pay off....watch out. When we hit the final pavement climb he turned to me and said “Go nuts.” I punched it a little but he wasn’t more then 15 seconds back as we hit the backside single track. I never really looked back from there. I had some trouble flowing through the fresh cut single track that we rode, but other than that, I just set stiff pace. In the end I rolled across the line solo a minute or two up on Fisher, who rode 2 laps with 15psi in his rear tire. Jesse Rients rounde out the top 3 with a strong ride as well. Well, it was nice to get the first win of the season, but now it is time to hit the sack.
Thanks for reading=)

I talked to Eric Thompson afterwards...he had the same crashing disorder as you did at the Platteville TT (even twisted his handlebar). He hit like 12 trees. You young bucks are going to have some serious battles this year.

I think they screwed up the results on the web site. They have you in 2nd behind Pele and Fisher is in 4th. Hmmmmmm...

Chris always tells me how me and Sam are in better shape.yeh,right.In the short punchy stuff he can fly right past us.We do prefer the longer climbs though. He is always fast in the start of the season. And who could forget Wors Cup.He needs to upgrade, lol.
Good luck at Elk River.

Pele must be fast=) If I had to guess, it was 2 minutes to Fisher(how long does it take to talk to Jen, go to the car, get a new bottle and come back to the start?). Fisher had about another 1 minute or so to Jesse. Eric was maybe half a minute back from Jesse.
They messed up the womens too, as Maria Stewart won on a SS. Apparently a Palm Pilot crash cause the confusion.
Either way, the racing was hot and the beer afterwards was cold.
Hey Eric, are you going to put the pressure on Fisher to "move up"?
See you at Elk River????

I wish I could do elk river but I already raced this weekend.Elk river was my first expert class race 2years ago and I took 4th.Haven't been that high in the rankings since.I like how they hand you your check as you cross the line.and not wait for 4hrs like I did today, and I still didn't get it.
