Well, I just couldn't resist. Trek was having a blowout...so I sold my old fuel which was going to be retired to a fall/spring trail bike and upgraded to this beauty for less than $500.
Specs:
2006 Fuel EX 9.5 with 4" of cushy front and rear travel. All stock except: Stans instead of tubes(of course), the wtb saddle that we won at 24 of Afton, egg beaters, and Salsa Grips
Weight: 26.6 lbs (too heavy to race unless we have a St. Cloud repeat!)
The new fuel 9.9 should be here in several weeks...

Seems like a VERY popular bike right now (at least for the VR crowd). I also picked one of these up for 2007 instead of the '07 TF 9.8 (wife would have choked me till I was dead-er if I tried to get both). It was hard not to pull the trigger on the 9.9 hard tail as well, but i was good....
Anyway, when you get a chance maybe we can spout about spec.'s for 2007... I'll let you know what I got- probably will still come under my 8500 HT at about 24.5 - 25 lbs...

Hey, Queen Bee at the shop got hers down to 25.5 with a new seat, handlebars, and cassette.
Maybe I'll see you this Sat at like 3 am. Ha, ha, ha.
Richard - I was told that Matt needed that cage for his SSLX. Matt does still work there right? Or did he move to Europe?
Mark - Jo Mama has the right idea. If you want a light bike start with Queen Bee's setup (including tires, pedals, stan's and grips that Jo Mama failed to mention) but go with a SLR Gelflow XC saddle rather than the 1-crash slr. To get sub 25 lb, you will need to go with a lighter fork like the R7(sell the reba), Thompson Masterpiece seatpost, and some egg beater twin ti pedals. If you do the last two, wear body armor at home on the day you get the bill...
Jay, the only samples I have gotten recently are of T9 and Stan's No Tubes sealant. They didn't have any free diaper samples at interbike, but I was looking.
Jo Mama - If you are indeed crazy enough bike from Rochester to Oconomowoc, please stop by Devil Lake. You can sleep on our picnic table and eat the table scraps from our breakfast.

Sorry for being so tardy with my response. No, I haven't started swapping things out right now on the bike, but I'm def. looking into the R7 - Reba swap. I think the bike will be about 25 lbs as is- not much more I can do aside from the fork and the wheels... I pretty much skimped as much as I could, although a new set of wheels may be in the future...
As for the forks, would you want and even swap? I just added a pop-lock to the fork, but that's all I did along those lines...
Anyway, let me know and I'll keep this in mind the in the coming weeks. As for the trip to ride with you guys, I'm loking at the 21st as the first weekend available- I'm racing 'cross until the end of November, and my Saturdays are up and down; however, I would love to take you up on the offer, and might be able to twist some arms down here to join me.
